Atopic dermatitis (AD) or commonly known as eczema, is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that affects people of all ages but most commonly in young children below 5 years of age. During a flare, symptoms include dry, red and itchy skin typically on the face, neck and extensor skin surfaces. With good medical care, the symptoms can be effectively controlled. Even after symptoms subside, it is important to continue good medical and skin care to prevent the next flare.
